Esencia Conquers the Gran Via: Extended Run at the Teatro Rialto

Demand forces a one-week extension of the Madrid season. Cortes calls it 'a summary of three decades travelling the world'.

From 8 June to 2 July 2017, Esencia settled into the Teatro Rialto on Madrid’s Gran Via with thirty artists on stage: eight female dancers, two bailaoras, twelve live musicians and eight flamenco cantaores.

Ticket demand forced a one-week extension beyond the original schedule. Cortes described the work as “a summary of three decades travelling the world,” with a production of Broadway standard.

Madrid confirmed what Barcelona had sensed a month earlier: Esencia was not just another show. It was the living testament of a legend at the height of his powers.
