Pasión Gitana Turns 25: the Most-Watched Spanish Dance Show in the World
More than 80 countries, more than two million live spectators and costumes by Giorgio Armani: a quarter of a century of the show that changed everything.
In December 2020, twenty-five years passed since the premiere of Pasión Gitana, the 1995 production that turned Joaquín Cortés into a global phenomenon and remains the most-watched Spanish dance show in the world.
The figures still command respect: more than 80 countries across four years of touring and more than two million live spectators. The costumes were signed by Giorgio Armani, an unprecedented fact in Spanish dance.
A quarter of a century on, that title remains the benchmark: few Spanish productions, in any discipline, have travelled as far or been seen by as many people.
